Implementing Decision No. 2962/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 11, 2023 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, dated November 22, 2023, within the framework of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, the Copyright Office, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province organized the workshop “Copyright protection in the development of the film industry” to assess the current situation of exploitation and enforcement of copyrights and rights related to cinematographic works; assessing the current status of production, distribution and dissemination of films associated with copyright and construction, development of the cultural industry; identification of copyright infringement of cinematographic works; Identify the achieved results, limitations, existence, inadequacies. From there, propose proposals, recommendations, directions and solutions in the work of copyright protection, building the cultural industry in general, the film industry in particular and responding to changes, socio-economic development and international integration.

Attending the workshop were representatives of relevant ministries, branches and agencies; representatives of leaders of agencies and units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Tourism; representatives of several societies, associations and collective representative organizations of copyright and related rights; representatives of enterprises operating in film production, distribution and dissemination; representing service consulting organizations, practicing lawyers on copyright and related rights; actors, directors, screenwriters and a number of news agencies and newspapers.

The workshop took place under the co-chairmanship of Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Mr. Pham S, Provincial Commissioner, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong People’s Committee. The workshop is an opportunity for management and enforcement agencies on copyright and related rights to receive contents from representatives of management agencies, professional associations, individuals and organizations directly creating cinematographic works that have participated in presenting presentations, Expressing opinions and proposing many practical contents to improve the legal policy on copyright and related rights for cinematographic works. Thereby, promoting creative activities and protecting creative achievements for the “7th art” in the coming time.

The workshop “Copyright protection in the development of the film industry” is part of the XXIII Vietnam Film Festival series according to Decision No. 1471/QD-BVHTTDL dated June 8, 2023 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is also an opportunity for film creators, representatives of agencies, departments, related associations, enterprises operating in film production, distribution and dissemination to , exchange many practical contents on copyright and development of the film industry; Since then, will contribute to raising awareness and sense of observance of copyright laws, promoting creative activities, protecting creative achievements and developing cultural industries in general and the film industry in particular in the spirit of Decision No. 1755/QD-TTg dated September 8, 2016 of the Prime Minister on approving the Industrial Development Strategy Vietnam’s culture aims to build a healthy and competitive cultural industry by 2030, contributing about 7% of the country’s GDP .
